How Quest works

Friday mornings

Queenstown Hill before work. Pick your group, park up at 6:20am, and we all meet at the Basket of Dreams by 7:00am for sunrise. We run down together, all paces welcome. Bring a head torch in winter, a layer for the top, and something warm for the way down.

Group 1

A steady hike to the top. Good if you’re new, easing back in, or just want the sunrise without the lungs burning.

The crew

Run by everyone who shows up.

Queenstown Run Club kicked off in 2025 with a handful of people and a 5K. It’s now a weekly fixture at Altitude. These two keep it ticking over.

New here?

Just come say hi.

That’s genuinely it. Here’s what to expect on your first night.

Turn up

Find the group outside Altitude Brewing a few minutes before 6:15pm. Look for the blue hoodies. Tell someone it’s your first time and they’ll introduce you around.

Run your pace

The route is an out-and-back on the lakefront, so fast and slow runners see each other the whole way. Walk-run is fine. Nobody gets left behind.

Stay for one

We finish back at Altitude for a drink, food, and a catch-up. The run is the excuse. The hang is the point.

Made possible by

  • Home base, Frankton Marina
  • Loaded flatbreads after the run

Good to know

Questions people ask before their first run with us

Do I need to sign up or pay?

No. Just show up. There’s no membership, no fee, and no booking. Bring coins for food and beer after.

How fast do I need to be?

Any pace works. Wednesday is a flat 5K with people running anywhere from 4 to 8 minutes per kilometre, and plenty walk-run it. Friday has a dedicated walking group.

What if it’s raining or snowing?

We run in most weather. Keep an eye on our Instagram on the day for any changes. If it’s properly dangerous, we call it and go straight to the drinks.

Can I bring a dog, a mate, or a pram?

Yes to all three on Wednesday. The lakefront trail is wide and flat. Friday is different: dogs aren’t allowed on Queenstown Hill, and the track is too steep and narrow for prams. Mates are always welcome.

Where do I park on Wednesday?

There’s parking at Frankton Marina next to Altitude Brewing, and more along the lakefront. The Frankton bus stops nearby too.

Can I get a hoodie?

We ran a one-off hoodie order in 2026 in cream and navy. Follow Instagram to hear about the next round.

See you Wednesday.
